Monthly Progress #75

At three months in addition to a grueling 6 years of struggle, this Ficus religiosa is finally established. It's about time. Now, this tree looks very healthy and many new growths are rounding its shape nicely. Ficus trees are long living and this tree has many more years to grow to a large shade tree at this location in the future. Way to go...

  1. It really looks good! The new trunk is clearly stronger than the old one. And straighter. Last week, we had to cut down a tree in our backyard that was encroaching on our roof. The arborist told us it was a cherry tree, and I was kicking myself for having cut down a fruit tree. Then my neighbor informed me it's a "wild cherry" and the fruit isn't edible anyway. "Bitter" he said. But! "Fruit trees are the best for carving," he told me. So, now I got beaucoup hunks of cherry wood in my yard, ready to carve.(Like I know how to carve anyway!)
